I was cruising through my local store while visiting in Oregon a few weeks ago and stumbled across these AMAZING Jell-O molds!! Is this true? Are my eyes seeing this clearly? Is this real life? All the questions that I quickly said to myself! I was looking at a stand that was filled with Oregon Jell-O Jiggler molds! I was so excited and yes it’s the little things in life! I actually didn’t buy them there but I did buy them online at Amazon so they would make it back to Atlanta.
Now the recipe is only to make non-alcoholic Jell-O molds but I was going to figure out a way to make this work with alcohol and still keep their shape! So I made these twice and figured out just the right Jell-O juice to alcohol ratio for these things to work.
The first time I made them I tried to put as much vodka as I could in them. They did work but if they were left sitting out for more than 30-45 minutes they slowly began to melt and loose the mold shape.
Now the second time was absolutely perfect! I placed just enough vodka to keep the mold shape and still have a decent Jell-O shot, containing a decent amount of vodka.
I hope you find this recipe helpful! Go Ducks or whatever your team may be! Cheers!
Here is the recipe that came with the molds. This recipe is to make 12 molds, which equals 1 tray. My kit came with two trays. If you want to make one big batch double this recipe.
2/3 cup boiling water
1 package Jell-O Gelatin, 3 ounces (any flavor)
1/4 cup Vodka
Spray the inside the molds with cooking spray. (You NEED to do this! They won’t come out that easily if not sprayed)
Add boiling water to gelatin mix; stir until completely dissolved. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
** This is where the magic happens! Add ¼ cup of vodka or any other liquor to gelatin. Stir again. **
Pour gelatin into prepared molds. You might have a tiny bit extra. Put it into a small container and have it for yourself! Refrigerate for 3 hours or until firm.
Run a knife along the sides to loosen gelatin. (I just used my fingers to slightly pull back on them from the edges.)
Place the molds on a plate and serve up some Jell-O Shots!!
- Now for my disclaimer… This recipe is meant to be made, used and consumed, by an Adult who is 21 years or older. Had to put it out there!
